Last night Joan and I flew back from Seattle to Bemidji, and on the flight to Minneapolis I watched a documentary on David Bowie’s final two albums “The Next Day” (2013) and “Blackstar” (2016) and Broadway musical called “Lazarus,” which HBO recently purchased titled DAVID BOWIE: THE LAST FIVE YEARS (2017): three statements by Bowie caught my ear:
“Always remember that the reason that you initially started working is that there was something in yourself that you felt that if you could manifest it in some way you would understand more about yourself and how you coexist with the rest of society.”
“You have to accommodate your past within your persona … it helps you reflect on what you are now.”
“I’m feeling like a society in myself. So broken up and fragmented …”
Okay, so today I shoveled the snow, not an insignificant amount, off the steps and sidewalk.
